  1. Love the monotones in this shot, Carin. The image teases the eye into the scene and sets it ‘awandering’ … can’t wait to hear where in the world these facilities are located!!

    1. Thanks, Cheryl. I take most of my pictures merely as a record, or because the shot inspires something bigger; I rarely consider much else, so it’s always fun when I look at them later and find other ‘visual’ elements that please me. Happy surprises. (BTW, it’s the Oyster House in the Distillery District.)

  2. Where they are! I am trying to figure out *what* they are?? It sort of makes me think of a sauna, but I don’t think that’s quite right. And the two metal things also look a bit like jukeboxes, but I’m sure that’s not right. Is it some kind of heating system?

  3. Hmm … Is it a washroom? On the wall, aren’t those hand dryers? But the bench(?) in the right foreground and at the base of that odd pipe look like marble. And what IS that pipe? Well, I’m curious now! What is it, and where?

    1. It’s the ladies at Pure Spirits Oyster House in the Distillery District. The washroom has been built around much of the original whiskey-running architecture. I love those pillars and exposed stone pieces. Quite stunning as you walk in expecting the usual tile. It strikes me that this is the second picture of public lavs I’ve featured. Ah well. What can I say… I have a penchant for clean hands.

    1. Now that you mention it, it IS very clean… I mean it looks cleaner in this picture than it seemed in real life. Sort of weirdly space-age clean… The magic of B&W.
