I have a thing for graffiti.
It feels like compressed expression.
Or maybe I mean repressed.
Like there’s so much more to say.
Too much for available public space.
So it’s done in this amazing code.
The messages there, clear as day for anyone to see,
…at the same time hidden among the chaos against those who can’t.
I love them too! and often take pictures myself. Love the added colours, it takes them to the next level.
The best of them always seem placed somewhere respectful, as though, by unspoken agreement, trains, underpasses, bridges, etc., are fair dinkum. Did you ever get to the Basquiat exhibit?
Indeed. I have to tell you about an idea. No, I never made it, unfortunately, but I saw the Alex Colville retrospective!
I would love to hear your idea!
I do too! I especially like the purple one in the middle. Here’s an older post from some in my hometown at an old fort site. http://www.looseleafnotes.com/2014/11/fort-revere-graffiti/
