I had never seen this painting before. Such a great topic and wonderfully conveyed through expressions and body language. I also like it because I had a 4xg aunt who campaigned for teachers’ pensions earlier in the 19th century in New Brunswick.

I couldn’t stop looking at this painting, even before reading the caption – it is so powerful and so timely. The expressions on the faces, the body language – everything.
It’s one of my favourites.
