summer postcards: misty berries

The berry vineyard is loving this wet weather. Me too. I’m amazed and grateful it survived last year’s drought. The bees have done their beautiful thing and the bushes are netted against the annual cedar waxwing family reunion. One row (20 bushes) is left wide open for their feasting pleasure. My milk crate picking stool is ready for action but the days are still cool so it’ll be a week or two before I spend mornings with the sound of haskaps plopping one by one into a tray. In the meantime, I breathe it in.
